Ukrainians as a separate language group from Russians, hate the Russians because of the terrible and deadly Ukrainian famine created by Stalin as leader of the USSR during the 1930s. Stalin wasn't even Russian, he was Georgian and his policy of collectivization created the famine. He did not take into account, the horrible consequences of such a policy. Today's Russians are not Soviets, Putin is not Stalin, Russia is a capitalist nation, a nascent democray and Christian. The complete opposite of the USSR!
I think you are missing the point. I would recommend you acquaint yourself with Russian history. For a start Kiev is the cradle of the Russian civilisation.
The problem with your take is that there are millions of Ukrainians in Russia and millions of Russians in Ukraine. They are interrelated like the Welsh and the English. It’s a very nuanced situation. In reality the situation today is more like a civil war. The famine you refer to took place all over the Soviet Union, the only reason that it was more apparent in Ukraine was because Ukraine was where there was the greatest density of kulaks due to rich soil and better weather conditions than in the poorer regions of the Soviet Union. The commissars could steal more as a result kill or starve or send more
kulaks to the gulag. Western Ukrainians (who are mostly Catholic uniates) hate the Russians, the further you go east the greater the % of Russians and Russian speakers, to say they hate one another is rather simplistic and does not take into account how nuanced the situation is. Here in the UK for instance virtually all the refugees who come from Ukraine are Russian speakers who come from the Russian speaking regions where the war is taking place. This is where there is the largest % of Russians. During Soviet rule, graduates from one region of the Soviet Union would be sent to another region, so really the population is very mixed. Even today the language used for business is Russian and not Ukrainian. To complicate matters most Ukrainians speak surzhik a patois. Anyway it’s a very complex situation which the west unfortunately does not fully understand or appreciate. The reality is that Ukraine and Russia needed peace negotiators to resolve their disputes. Instead we sent weapons and military advisors….
Another mistake you make is to claim that Ukrainian is a different language group to Russian when in fact together with Belorussian they all originate from old church Slavonic. Russian is the most developed of the three languages, virtually all great Ukrainian writers wrote in Russian. It is a tragedy that many in the west have little knowledge of the culture, the history and the forces of motivation.

Thank you for that information.

Russia is not Ukraine's enemy. for five years it supplied Ukraine with heating gas without being paid. That is not a sign of an enemy.
I don't think that fact changes my take on the current situation.

"The sun was broiling hot, red spots floated before his eyes, the air
was quivering on the floor of the quarry, and in the shimmer it seemed that
the ball was dancing in place like a buoy on the waves. He went past the
bucket, superstitiously picking up his feet higher and making sure not to
step on the splotches. And then, sinking into the rubble, he dragged himself
across the quarry to the dancing, winking ball. He was covered with sweat
and panting from the heat, and at the same time, a chill was running through
him, he was shuddering, as if he had a bad hangover, and the sweet chalk
dust gritted between his teeth. He had stopped trying to think. He just
repeated his litany over and over: "I am an animal, you see that. I don't
have the words, they didn't teach me the words. I don't know how to think,
the bastards didn't let me learn how to think. But if you really are ...
all-powerful ... all-knowing ... then you figure it out! Look into my heart.
I know that everything you need is in there. It has to be. I never sold my
soul to anyone! It's mine, it's human! You take from me what it is I want
... it just can't be that I would want something bad! Damn it all, I can't
think of anything, except those words of his ...'HAPPINESS FOR EVERYBODY,
FREE, AND NO ONE WILL GO AWAY UNSATISFIED!' ""
