It seems as though these émigré Russian writers have been cognitively captured by the West, as manifested in their failing to mention many aspects leading up to the SMO that occurred even before 2014: the inability of the West to include Russia in a pan-European security agreement after the fall of the USSR; NATO expansion (the first tranche beginning under President Clinton) up to Russia's borders; the US pulling out of arms control agreements with Russia, including the vital INF treaty; Ukraine agreeing into participate in NATO's interoperability program; and Ukraine's vote to abandon neutrality. While many in the West have suffered from a strong case of Russophobia for decades, it now seems to have passed onto these Russian writers as well without any self-reflection.
